The
Library of Scandinavian Studies
was
opened in 1997 with the aid of the Scandinavian Embassies in Bucharest
and is supported with donations from:
-The Department of teaching Norwegian in foreign countries universities
-The Central Library in Norway
-The Ibsen Studies Centre
-The Department of Scandinavian Languages and Theory of Literature from
Oslo University
-Bergen University
-The Royal Library in Stockholm
-Finnish cultural institutions
The library has almost 6000 volumes in the four Scandinavian languages:
Norwegian, Swedish, Danish and Finnish.
Besides books of literature (novels and poetry books) the library is
equipped with dictionaries, anthologies, text books (with tapes), CD-rom,
video tapes, leaflets containing information about the Scandinavian
countries both in English and Norwegian, Swedish, Finnish, Danish. The
library subscribed to the following newspapers and magazines: Edda,
Kulturnytt, Norskelæreren, Norwegian Literature Today, Nordisk
Litteratur.
