Biography

My main field of interest is Finnish theatre and drama, with particular focus on contemporary theatre authors who combine writing, directing an acting in their work. I am also interested in the theory and practice of literary translation, the translation of prose and drama.

I have recently completed the translation of a volume of short stories by contemporary writer Rosa Liksom (Väliaikainen/ Ideglenes, published by Noran Libro), and currently I am working on an article on the translation of Liksom’s one minute stories possibly to be completed by an interview with the author.

My most recent translation of a contemporary performance text by Finnish actor/writer/director Anna Paavilainen, published in the theatre journal Játéktér/Playing Area, marks an important step in my studies in the field of translatability of postdramatic theatre texts written for the stage.

I am currently working on a project exploring the use of applied drama in teaching modern and contemporary literature.
