Department of Scandinavian Languages and Literature
The Department of Scandinavian Languages and Literatures of the Faculty of Letters in Cluj-Napoca provides was established and developed by professor, Ph.D., Sanda Tomescu Baciu in 1991. The programme initiated by prof. Sanda Tomescu, had in the beginning only 12 students. The total number of students who attent today the BA Norwegian is around 300 and it grows gradually every year. The Department of Scandinavian Languages and Literatures provides the students one of the most important BA Norwegian Programme through which the Norwegian language and culture is promoted among the students. Besides, there is also an optional MA Norwegian Programme. From 2008, besides minor BA Norwegian specialization, it was also introduced the major BA Norwegian specialization. Beginning with 2010 a PhD Norwegian Programme is also provided under the supervision of professor Sanda Tomescu Baciu. From 2015 the Department has been granted SIU, through competition, support for a Norwegian foreign lecturer for the period between 2015 and 2020.
