The Doctoral School of Hungarian Studies hosted the largest and longest-running professional gathering of researchers in classical Hungarian literature, the “Vetésforgó,” which has been organized biannually without interruption for the past 30 years. This workshop-style event, held alternately by various research institutions or university departments, featured numerous senior scholars and university lecturers. It also served as a key meeting opportunity for doctoral students.

The academic discussions on Friday revolved around a study by doctoral candidate Dorottya Tőtős (Doctoral School of Hungarian Studies, Cluj) titled A Literary-Historical Blind Spot: Hungarian Decadence at the Turn of the Century. On Saturday morning, the keynote presentation was delivered by prof. Sándor Hites (HUN-REN Research Centre for the Humanities, Institute of Literary Studies, Budapest), who discussed the results, future directions, and insights of the “Political Economy of Hungarian Literature” project, part of the Momentum ERC-like Program of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences (MTA). Following the presentations, some participants joined a city tour led by the Korzo Association, and later attended a performance at the Hungarian Theatre of Cluj.

The primary professional partner and sponsor of the event was the Cluj Regional Committee of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences.
