The Kriza János Scientific College founded in 2007 is functioning within the frame of the scientific college network of the Hungarian University Federation from Cluj-Napoca. The professional activity is coordinated by the Department of Hungarian Ethnography and Anthropology and the Kriza János Ethnographic Society.

Antecedents to the College were research groups interested in social sciences, which operated at the Babeș-Bolyai University Faculty of Letters and Sapientia Hungarian University of Transylvania.

The goal of the Scientific College is to offer a plus to the ethnographical training at the university, where students can improve their knowledge with extracurricular topics and with interdisciplinary spirit they possibility to learn results of other social sciences. Collage activity includes individual scientific work with a mentor (research, writing a scientific paper, presenting the paper etc.) of which purpose is to develop the individual perspective, the ability to debate, the skills to analyse and the creativity. Inviting guest lecturers, workshops and study trips allow our members to get acquainted with researchers, institutions, publishing opportunities.
