Biography

Dr Michaela Mudure is interested in the intersection between gender and ethnicity in literary studies as well as in the British Enlightenment. She has been teaching in the English Department of the Faculty of Letters, Babes-Bolyai University since 1990, full professor since 2009. She was accredited Ph.D. advisor in 2010. Dr Mudure was awarded several research grants: University of Edinburgh (1992), Fulbright Grant at University of Arizona, Tucson (1993-1994); Free University Berlin (1995 and 2015), Central European University, Budapesta (1997, 1998-1999), Institutum Superiorum Humanitatis, Ljubljana, Slovenia (2005), University of Toronto, Canada (2012), University of California at Berkeley (2015-2016). Guest professor at Dokuz Eylul University, Izmir, Turkey and at Technical University Liberec, Czech Republic, prof. Mudure also gave invited lectures at the International Conference on Multicultural Discourses in Hangzhou, China (pleanry speaker), University of California at Santa Cruz, Universitatea Bahcehesir in Istanbul, ESSE Conference in Kosice, Slovakia (subplenary speaker) Hebrew University, Jerusalem, Israel, University of Kent, Canterbury, University of California at Riverside, University of California at Berkeley, ESSE Conference in Galway, Ireland (subplenary speaker) etc. She has contributed to numerous reference works published in Romania, USA, and UK. Dr Mudure’s article “Zeugmatic Spaces: Eastern/Central European Feminisms”  has been translated into Estonian and published in the ERIH Journal Ariadna.
