Biography

Imola-Ágnes Farkas is lecturer in the Department of English Language and Literature at the Faculty of Letters, Babeș-Bolyai University, Cluj-Napoca. Between 2007 and 2010, she was first an MA student and later a visiting researcher at the University of Geneva, Switzerland. In 2011, she defended her PhD dissertation on English and Romanian resultative constructions. Currently, she is involved in a DOMUS research project at the Research Institute for Linguistics/Hungarian Academy of Sciences, Budapest. She is member of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences, the European Society for the Study of English (ESSE), Societas Linguistica Europaea (SLE) and the Association of Researchers in Theoretical and Applied Linguistics (ARTA). Her academic interests lie in theoretical linguistics, generative syntax and formal semantics. She has read and published papers in English, Romanian and Hungarian on resultative constructions, the syntax of adjectives, cartography, the syntax of aspect and the semantics of the verb.

Teaching

Imola-Ágnes Farkas teaches undergraduate courses and seminars on generative grammar, formal semantics, morphology, the syntax and semantics of the verb as well as electives on grammar & vocabulary and essay writing.
