Octavian More (Ph.D., Babeș-Bolyai University, 2010) is lecturer in the Department of English Language and Literature at the Faculty of Letters, Babeș-Bolyai University of Cluj-Napoca.
His main research interests include modernist poetry (in particular, the connection between philosophy, scientific theories and poetic imagination in the first decades of the 20th century), Canadian literature as a space of intersections and cross-cultural influences, Victorian prose and its social, economic, intellectual underpinnings and the study of meaning in popular culture (with special emphasis on contemporary pop/rock musical scene). He is the author of a series of articles on these subjects, published both in Romania and abroad, and has also participated in a number scientific conferences, seminars and workshops.
His current efforts (as of February 2016) include revising the manuscript of his Ph.D. thesis on Wallace Stevens’s epistemological poetry (to be published later this year) and preparing two articles, on the fluid character of Alice Munro’s story-telling fiction, respectively, the Utilitarian ethos and the bourgeois virtues in Charles Dickens’s Hard Times.
Octavian More is member of the Central European Association for Canadian Studies and the Romanian Society for English and American Studies.

Octavian More has taught courses, seminars and practical courses in a number of subjects, including English Phonetics and Phonology, Translations, Essay Writing/Composition, Text Interpretation, Victorian Literature and Canadian Literature. In 2005 he was visiting professor at the University of Nevada, Reno, USA, where he taught undergraduate-level courses (Composition; Introduction to Language and Literature) and delivered lectures on American Modernist poetry and the Brontë sisters. In 2013 he taught at the University of Pannonia, Veszprém, Hungary, within the Erasmus programme.
