Biography

Rareş Moldovan is Associate Professor in the Department of English Language and Literature at the Faculty of Letter, Babeş-Bolyai University in Cluj. He is the director of the M.A. in Irish Studies at the Faculty of Letters, the director of the student magazine Echinox, and is affiliated with the Centre for the Research of the Contemporary British Novel (CCRBC) and the Centre for European Modernism Studies (CEMS). He has also translated into Romanian authors such as Thomas Pynchon, Michael Cunnigham, Chuck Palahniuk, Harold Bloom.
He is currently working on a book on authenticity in American fiction, and on a new translation of James Joyce’s Ulysses.
Research interests: American literature (especially 20th century and contemporary fiction), cultural and literary theory (theories of modernity), the relation between literature and film (especially American and Irish film).
